Villa Marianna | Emily +Jake | Jekyll Island Wedding Photographer

March 28, 2019

Back in the blogging world this week, and IT FEELS SO GOOD!!! We shot this wedding this past weekend, and I am still on cloud nine from it. I think it’s safe to say that it really was a DREAM! I’ve known Emily for a long time through mutual friends. I was SO excited when she asked me to photograph her wedding. I have really loved sharing this season of life with her. We shared MANY late night phone calls and venting sessions. One thing I love about Emily is that she is always so encouraging. She has a way of making everyone feel so loved. Another thing I love about her is HER WORK!!! She owns Sign Sealed Delivered, and she designed my own wedding invitation suite. I was so excited to get my hands on hers to photograph it!!!

Emily + Jake got married at Lovely Lane Chapel in St. Simons, and then we all drove over to Villa Marianna to enjoy the most delicious dinner (thanks, Southern Soul!) and celebrate the newly weds. I loved the entire day and never wanted it to end… but I’ll spare you ALL of the details and just highlight a few of my favorite moments…

  1. Emily’s Daddy married them, and it was such a touching ceremony. It was personal, hilarious, and Jesus-filled. Lovely Lane Chapel isn’t very large, making it feel so intimate.
  2. I loved seeing how close Emily + Jake both are with their families. Seth and I come from BIG, tight knit families, and I love being surrounded by the same. Everyone was so welcoming. By the end of the day, we felt like we had known everyone there for years.
  3. THE KIDS… y’all… I have NEVER met kids so funny. They had (quite a few) little ones in their bridal party, and this could have gone really wrong. But instead, it went PERFECTLY. The little ones were the first ones on the dance floor and the last ones off. Emily nannied all of them, and it was so sweet to see how much they adore her.
  4. Last but not least… the balloon release. Emily’s Momma and Jake’s cousin have both had organ transplants. Emily’s Momma had a heart transplant and Amanda has had TWO lung transplants and is now awaiting her THIRD. (Join me in praying for her?!) At the reception, before first dances, they surprised them with a balloon release to honor their donors. There wasn’t a single dry eye in the house, and it made my heart soar to see them honor others on their day.

I could go on and on, but I know you’re really here for the photos… 😉 It was SUCH an honor to play a small part in this day, and I am so thankful for the people Jesus so gracefully places in my life through this job. Cheers to forever, Mr. + Mrs. Bowen!!!
